Rachelle Ann Go had revealed in March that she will not renew her contract for the role of Gigi in Miss Saigon on its expiration this May. Her last show on Miss Saigon was a few weeks ago on May 9.
The singer-actress said she is still deciding on what to do next but hopes to land greater roles in the musical world. Leaving Miss Saigon gave way for Rachelle Ann Go to land the role of Fantine in the West End revival of the famous musical “Les Miserable”.
The 28 year old singer has received multiple awards including the Best Featured Actress in Musical at the Broadway World West Ends Awards, and Best Supporting Actress at the Whatsonstage Awards.
This seems like a big shoe to fill in for Natalie Mendozia, the Fil-Australian singer who will take up the role of Gigi which Rachelle had left.
Natalie’s mother is Australian while her father is Filipino and hails from Laguna. She starred as Imelda Marcos in the musical “Here Lies Love” staged in London. She was also a part of the famous musical film “Moulin Rouge”.
Despite knowing the gravity of this role and the mark that Rachel Ann Go left on it, the singer is confident in doing her best to make it her own.
