It was a pleasant combination of hard work and motivation that made this Mindanaoan kid this year’s topnotcher of the Mechanical Engineering Board of Exams.

Elso Elumbaring Jr., a proud graduate of the Notre Dame University in Cotabato City got the first spot in this year’s ME Board Examination with a percentage of 90.15%. Following him are the representative of Sorsogon (Edcel Fortes -89.40%), another Mindanaoan (Donato Juayang – 89.35%).

But that’s not it, what makes this achievement even more precious is the fact that the father of Elso is a habal-habal driver who doesn’t earn that much, but still was able to support Elso. This was a very inspirational story since habal-habal drivers are almost killing themselves at work just to meet their families’ needs, and their son and daughters’ education.

It’s not a matter of who’s rich, but it’s a matter of who wants it the most. And just like what everyone says, do your best and leave the rest to God because He will honor your preparations.
